My
love affair with vintage clothing began at an early age when I used to dress up
in my mother's 50's prom dresses. There was nothing like all that tulle and taffeta
to make a girl feel like a fairy princess. When I reached my late teens I discovered
the thrift stores where at that time there was a plethora of gorgeous vintage
clothing. By then I had learned to appreciate the hand tailoring and rich fabrics
that could only be found in the older clothing. I collected closets full of dresses,
skirts, and especially shoes! About twelve years ago I moved to New York and my
tiny apartment size meant that much of my collection had to stay at the family
home. In an effort to free up some closet space there, I started to sell a few
items that I could bear to part with on ebay. My mother joined in and cleaned
out her closets as well. Now that we had some more room it meant that that we
could once again go to the estate sales, flea markets and thrift stores and fill
up that empty space! There is nothing like finding that pristine vintage item,
but so often it is not my size and yet I can't bear to leave it. So along with
my ebay auctions, I started this website to pass along our finds to those of you
that appreciate the style and workmanship that can only be found in quality vintage
clothing and don't have the time to go out and search for it. I hope
you enjoy browsing the site, and if you have any comments please e-mail
me. Lisa Jarrow (vintage clothing addict) |
